Phoenix Acupuncture Clinic

Welcome to the phoenix acupuncture clinic website.

Hello, my name is Jackie Townsend. I own and run phoenix acupuncture clinic and I’m based in Worthing in West Sussex.

As an energy medicine, acupuncture can be used to treat all kinds of difficulties by encouraging and supporting a return to harmony and balance in the body (see Acupuncture in brief, below, and Acupuncture in detail).

Headaches, back pain, musculo-skeletal problems, digestive complaints, anxiety, fatigue, eczema, asthma, infertility are all issues which are frequently successfully treated with acupuncture.

Jackie TownsendI specialise in Facial Revitalisation with Acupuncture and Cosmetic Acupuncture. Other special interests in my work include acupuncture to help with weight loss, which includes looking at your diet and women’s issues of all kinds such as PMT, problems related to menopause, heavy periods etc. It's worth emphasising that these treatments are without the use of any chemicals, as, for instance, in prescriptive medicines, and are therefore completely natural.

My aim is to make each treatment a pleasant experience, so that it’s not just about dealing with problems that your body is manifesting, important as that undoubtedly is, but actually having a pleasant experience; talking to someone who is interested and listening to what is going on with you. I want you to go away feeling you have had a nice time, feeling and looking well and relaxed.

Other than the women’s issues, all treatments are suitable for men as well as women.

I use acupuncture to help you to look and feel better – to feel well and look well, which is what all of us want.

Acupuncture needles being carefully inserted

I always wanted to try acupuncture, but the thought of needles being poked in various places on my body as a holistic therapy just didn't appeal!  That was until I had an accident, and corrective surgery, which involved many needles! Although the surgery was successful, I was left with a large facial scar.

I initially went to Jackie for help with healing the scar tissue (and it has to be said, was still fairly sceptical about acupuncture).  Three months on and not only is my scar virtually invisible but I also benefit from better circulation and painless periods.

Visiting Jackie is like going to see a friend only better! I always leave with a smile knowing she has listened and put her magic needles just where they need to be. I would recommend anyone thinking about acupuncture (especially the sceptical) to visit Jackie, you really will see the benefits.    Zoe DR

Acupuncture works by affecting our energy by means of needles to restore balance when it has been lost. So what is balance? Our lives are often over-full and stressful. It is a challenge to take care of ourselves and to look good. For many reasons life seems to be speeding up and the faster we run to keep up the faster our lives become. This has consequences for the body and for our emotions. We look in the mirror and see a stressed, tired face, or our clothes are suddenly too tight. Maybe we’re also not sleeping well and our digestive system is suffering.

Acupuncture can help. By strengthening and stimulating your whole system, clearing blockages and helping to restore harmony and improved function, together with advice on diet and lifestyle, you can feel better and look good. And of course if you’re feeling well you tend to look good. It’s a positive spiral: if you take care of yourself and have treatments that help to deal with any problems you may have and support you towards feeling well then the stresses of life are easier to deal with and things like sleeping well, having a healthy digestive system are resolved.

Moxibustion being carried out

You’ll want to know how much it costs. For basic acupuncture, for example a treatment for low energy or headaches, the initial consultation and treatment is £45. This treatment takes approximately 1½ hours. Subsequent treatments take around 40 minutes and cost £35.

There are two levels of treatment for Facial Revitalisation with Acupuncture; the first takes 1 hour and costs £45, the second takes
1½ hrs and costs £60.

Cosmetic Acupuncture is a different treatment again, and takes 1½ hours and costs £60 per session.

How many treatments will you need? This obviously varies considerably from one person to another and is dependent on factors such as how long have you had the problem? What are your current energy and stress levels? What are you eating and drinking?

I always recommend that people have a minimum of 6 treatments. You may well feel considerably better after only one treatment but it is important to understand that acupuncture does not often produce instant results and most people need treatments for some time and on a regular basis. I usually recommend lifestyle changes, including diet, that are intended to be positive and supportive and which also take time to implement.
